After receiving his BFA from Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts in 1999, Matthew Levin returned to Los Angeles to work on various independent projects before joining HBO in 2002. Under the executive direction of HBO and Moffitt-Lee, Levin oversaw video production and post for the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival 2003 in Aspen, CO. There, he directed the live video recording of Harry Shearer's "J. Edgar!" featuring John Goodman, Kelsey Grammer, and Christopher Guest. Shortly after, Levin joined Evan Daum and Whitney Padgett to form Captured Live Productions. During his time at Captured Live, Levin produced and directed projects for major entities including HBO, MGM, Starz!, DirecTV, Yahoo!, TV Land, We TV, TBS and PBS. He co-produced the AdLib Comedy Series featuring Doug Stanhope and Pablo Francisco, and partnered with Sprint and Power Entertainment to launch the first ever 24-hour mobile comedy network. In 2004, Levin co-produced X's, critically acclaimed 25th anniversary special, "X: Live in Los Angeles," followed by the PBS Documentary "Benise: Inside the Fire" in 2005. Levin also co-produced and directed "Pretty, Funny Women" for We TV, co-starring Chelsea Handler and Suzanne Whang. More recently, Levin produced and directed William Shatner's "Has Been" Live, featuring Ben Folds and Henry Rollins; the Starz! broadcast, "Particle: Transformations Live", featuring Joe Satriani, Blackalicious and Robby Krieger of The Doors; and interviews with Ann and Nancy Wilson for "Heart: Dreamboat Annie Live," for VH1 Classic. Since 2008, Levin has co-produced several television specials in conjunction with Yanni-Wake Entertainment including PBS's "Yanni: Voices" and "Yanni Voices Live in Acapulco" as well as the Televisa special, "Voces." In 2010, Levin Productions was formed. The company's debut project, "Yanni: A Living Legacy", became one of the most successful pledge programs in PBS history.
